Class work

Crash Pad Edit

In this task I had to take a 15 minute long video which I then had to cut down to a short video. I decided I would do something different to this video by making an intro of sorts. I managed to cut it down from 15 mins to around 45 seconds and added some edits of my own.

The original video doesn't have any over added effects that I added. the aspect ratio changes in this video from 4:3 to the standard movie quality of a 1.85: 1 aspect ratio. The thing that I find interesting about this video is how it starts in a monochrome colour (black and white) and ends in full colour. I wanted to do this so I could test out a fade from black and white to colour effect so I could use it in future projects. Another way that I used to practice was changing the aspect ratios. That was a new thing for me and a new thing to try out. I will be using this for a future project.

Microphone Video Intro Task

In this task I used after effects to create an intro for a how to video on using a H4n Microphone. This intro was very simply made but gives the right feeling for a simple how to video. I used simple techniques like key framing and slide transitions for this task.

As you can see with the video above its very simple but in a good way. There was one small 'advanced' technique that I used and that was a Gaussian blur fade in. That only lasted around 1 second but gave more of a smooth feeling for the text. This video has a lot of simple areas to it which when they come together they give a smooth and easy looking intro.

Camera Movement task

For this one we took loads of different camera movements by recording a tripod. There was some simple shots that we had used like a: tuck, dutch, boom and dolly angle we had used to make some of these shots.

'Marshmallow' Task

This was inspired by a ted talk of the same name. In the challenge a group of people are put together to make a tower out of: spaghetti, tape and a marshmallow. The people had to make a tower out of spaghetti and tape then had to balance a marshmallow on top. What we did was with toothpicks and blue tack but still used the same principle. We were given around 20 mins to make out tower as high as possible and as stable as possible. My team used our sticks to make sure the base was stable and to keep it as level as possible. We originally had a triangle base set up but decided later on that a square would be more sturdy. In the end we came second place with 16.5 inches of height just loosing to the other team with 19 inches.

You can see in the image that the second layer is more reinforced then the first. This is because the second layer will be the one to hold the USB task to measure the height. There is also a little bit of a design element on the bottom four corners.

Age Ratings

Movies/ Tv shows are always put into a group with other productions known as Age ratings. They are put into these ratings based on what these things include. This can be based off gore, language and sexual contents.

These are the following age ratings:

Age ratings are a good, simple and effective way to keep young children safe from watching movies that may cause mental harm to them or be too scary for them to watch. Older people would be mature enough to decide whether they want to watch a movie with a higher age rating. The ages are guidelines for people to decide what they movie will be about while it gives little to nothing away. This guideline helps people know whether they want to watch the movie and helps parents keep their children away from bad films.

Bibliography Test- MyBib

Click this link to be taken to my MyBib task: Here

This website here is a good and easy way to make a bibliography page with all the research being used in the project. My own page is on this vlog with all my research, that page is on my Evaluation page. This website is very simple to follow and can be used very easily which would to some people be very useful and efficient.

Evaluation partner task.

Below is the work me and my classmate did. All of the writing is in the image below.

Practice How to Video

This task we was given the choice between three subjects to make a practice how to video. I had chosen with a fellow classmate to create a how to video on how to place and eject a SD card from a computer. This video took around 10 mins to make and wasn't made to be very long because by this time we both had already made our actual how video at the time. This is the video that we had made... enjoy.
