Pre-production

Overview of my Idea

For my idea I will be creating a how to video on how to set up a camera and tripod.... but it will be set in the style of a 1930's movie. This will be made like this to give a 'fresh breath' to the how to video concept. The video itself will be in black and white and be used in a 4:3 aspect ratio. It will also kind of look like its an old movie that's been found but at the end it will have a twist. The end will have the main character looking into the camera confused and then it will use a dolly zoom effect to turn the camera from the 4:3 ratio to a normal motion picture screen. The colour will also come back and the music will fade out. This will most likely run for around 3 minuets or maybe less its not meant to be too long and will still give all the needed detail for a how to video.

This a good place to learn characters names because they will not be said in the actual project itself so this is an easy way to learn them. My script follows all of the video so can be followed along while watching it. Production Schedule

This is the production schedule that I will be sticking to throughout my project. I will keep to it and make sure everything is kept to the right time. There might be a little bit of time to reschedule some but there is enough time to keep to everything accordingly. There is enough detail in this to give a short explanation for what's happening. 

Mindmap

This mind map is basically an explosion of my creative mind for this idea so it might look confusing. This mind map has all of my idea written in short words, some of them have more areas coming out of them. This is because it goes into more detail and because there all in the same category  its easier to connect them all into one sub heading. 

Storyboard

This is my storyboard for the project. Its meant to display how the colour changes from black and white to colour in the video.  Most or around 90% of this video will be in black and white so the change to colour will be a shock to the viewers adding more depth to the video. All 6 slides could come out to around 2-3 mins long so there all evenly spaced to around 20 seconds per box.

Location Recce

I will be using the same location for every scene in my project. Thats because it will be used to have an aspect of the old 1930's style video. It is a fairly safe location that will be double checked for any hazards before production begins. The only hazards which are fairly small would be the use of electrical items, this can be easily avoided by not using them unless needed and when using them to be extra careful handling them.

A roughly estimated size would be around 4 meters by about 10 meters. This gives me loads of room to work with. 

Risk Assessment

This risk assessment for my project was pretty simple because there aren't many risks at all in the place i'm recording. Even if there was any risks all of them can be avoided very simply and quickly. That is why there is not much on my risk assessment above. 

Shot list

This shot list is very basic because the recording of this video itself is basic. There are still other shots but they wont come into effect until the final act of the video. Thats because its meant to look basic at the start and then very complex towards the end. As you can see that the other shots come around when the character appears to be scared. The main shot will be a medium shot which will stay fairly still thought the whole entire project, thats because its meant to look like an old video which are usually stuck to one shot thought the whole thing.
