Sound

Sound recording is very important in film recording because its what people hear. If there wasn't any sound in movies people would get bored very easily and have no driving force to keep engaged in the movie. Sound is captured in many ways but the best way is through a piece of recording equipment like a microphone. Using these can help capture the most efficient sound recordings that can be got. There is also studio recordings which are captured in recording studios and can also get a clear good piece of audio

Overview of sound recording

A good sound recording makes things look a lot more professional. A video can go from mediocre to professional with good sound recordings and the way people get that is from microphones. All microphones do the same thing theoretically but there are loads of diffrent factors to what makes a microphone unique. These are: the software in the mic, the size of the mic, price of the mic, the look of the mic and some mics are more advanced in diffrent fields.

Boom microphone

A boom microphone or simpler known boom mic is a microphone that is put on a pole to collect the audio from above. These mics can especially be used for areas that also require a camera (things like Movies and an Interview etc.) Boom mic's also come in diffrent sizes and prices differ for the quality you want. A film grade boom mic can be priced anywhere from £600 all the way into the thousands. Overall boom mics are good for recording things like interviews and film/tv.

Blue Yeti microphone

The blue yeti is known as a 'side address condenser microphone' which is a long and confusing name for a mic that is best for       one-to-one conversations. The Blue Yeti is a perfect example for a one-to-one mic. These mic's come perfect for areas like podcasts or voiceovers because they give a clear audio recording when set up correctly. The Blue Yeti is priced at around £100 so can be quite affordable and is defiantly worth the money.

Clip mic (lavaliere)

A clip mic is probably the smallest microphone used in the media industry. These mics are primarily used for interviews or 'reality' tv shows. These are because they can be easily hidden and can get a reliable audio recording for what they are needed to do. Clip mics come at a super affordable price some can even be bought for around £10 (but i would be sceptical of those) These are best for interviews because they can not be shown and they will make the interview sound and even look more progressional. Sometimes clip mics can just be used for display when in reality there is a boom mic being used to record the interview.

Adobe Audition first recordings

Here we used Adobe Audition to edit in some sound recordings that we had previously made and edited them into one video. This recording was made on a H1n recorder and we used some lavaliere mics to record the sound. This gave us some more clear quality recordings and gave a clear sound recording. The quality of the sound is good throughout and there is no cutting of any of the audios which gives it more of a crisp sound. The audio would only be noticeable if it was bad but if this was put to an interview it wouldn't even be noticeable.
